Soccer Shoot

The Elks Soccer Shoot Program harnesses the extraordinary popularity of youth soccer to create meaningful engagement with children and families in our communities. This multi-tiered competition offers age-appropriate challenges for boys and girls from ages 7-13, with separate divisions testing different skills. Local Lodges conduct contests where participants demonstrate accuracy and precision, with winners advancing through district, state, and regional levels. Mississippi's top performers have their scores submitted to the national competition to determine champions across all divisions. Through the Soccer Shoot Program, Mississippi Elks provide positive recreation that builds confidence, teaches sportsmanship, and offers healthy activities that keep young people engaged in constructive pursuits, exemplifying our commitment to youth development.

Our Team.

Aim High, Shoot Straight

Soccer Shoot in the Order of Elks

According to Grand Lodge Statutes Section 13.021(c), the Activities Committee must "promote, support and oversee programs for the youth of the community... and implement all youth programs of the Lodge, the State Association, and the Grand Lodge." The Soccer Shoot program within the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks operates under the direction of the Activities Committee as mandated by Grand Lodge Statutes Section 13.021(c), providing a structured competition that engages youth in positive recreational activities.

Program Details and Activities

The Elks Soccer Shoot program is a free competition that offers boys and girls ages 7-15 the opportunity to demonstrate their soccer skills in a fun, supportive environment. Established as a national program in 1999, the Soccer Shoot has grown into a beloved youth activity that promotes physical fitness, sportsmanship, and healthy competition throughout our state.

Through the enthusiastic efforts of our state committee and local Lodge volunteers, the Soccer Shoot program engages youth in a progressive competition that begins at the local level and can advance to state championships. Our well-organized program includes:

  • Two distinct contest formats tailored to different age groups:The Five Goal Contest for ages 7 and under (U-8), featuring decreasing-sized goals
    The Grid Goal Contest for ages 8-15 (U-10, U-12, U-14, and U-16), using a sectioned full-size goal

  • Local Lodge contests typically held in August and September

  • District competitions for local Lodge winners

  • State championships determining our state's top soccer shooters

  • Virtual National Soccer Shoot Competition for state champions

The Soccer Shoot program is fully funded by participating Lodges and our State Association, allowing all youth to participate at no cost. Our state coordinator provides guidance to local Lodges to ensure contests are conducted properly and according to national guidelines.

Beyond developing soccer skills, the program emphasizes the importance of goal-setting, self-improvement, and good sportsmanship. Participants receive recognition for their achievements while enjoying a positive recreational experience that builds confidence and character.
