Event Planning

Implements Drug Awareness, Hoop Shoot, and Soccer Shoot programs while supervising civic, social, and community activities, including youth programs and community projects (G.L.S. 13.021).

Key Responsibilities

According to Section 13.021 of the Grand Lodge Statutes, the Activities Committee:

  • Implements the Drug Awareness Program and Hoop Shoot® Program at Lodge, State, and Grand Lodge levels

  • Supervises all Lodge activities of civic, social, and community interest

  • Develops at least one program solely identified as Elks-sponsored within the Lodge jurisdiction

  • Promotes, supports, and oversees youth programs including The Antlers organization

  • Implements all youth programs of the Lodge, State Association, and Grand Lodge

  • Develops community projects that emphasize the charitable works of the Order

The Activities Committee serves as the primary driver of the Lodge's community engagement and youth-focused initiatives, ensuring the Lodge maintains visible charitable and civic presence in its jurisdiction.

Leadership

This position provides comprehensive leadership development through coordinating multiple related subcommittees and specialized functions. As a statutory committee mandated by Grand Lodge Statutes, this position often oversees several subsidiary committees and working groups, requiring strong organizational and delegation skills. The Chair's responsibility for implementing Grand Lodge, State Association, and Lodge-level programs develops strategic thinking and multi-level coordination abilities. This role serves as excellent preparation for future service as a Lodge officer, providing experience in budget management, program oversight, and member motivation essential for executive positions.
