The Treasurer functions as the financial steward of an Elks Lodge, responsible for all monetary transactions and fiscal accountability. This position requires trustworthiness and precision in managing Lodge funds and maintaining accurate financial records.

Key Responsibilities

According to Section 12.060 of the Grand Lodge Statutes, the Treasurer:

  • Receives all monies from the Secretary, giving receipts

  • Pays all approved bills against the Lodge on vouchers signed by the Exalted Ruler and Secretary

  • Maintains accurate records of receipts and disbursements

  • Gives bond of at least $5,000

  • Acts as Treasurer of all Committees unless otherwise provided by the By-Laws

  • Signs all checks unless the By-Laws provide otherwise

  • Notifies the Board when unappropriated cash exceeds the amount set in the Lodge By-Laws

  • Attends all District Deputy Clinics unless excused

Leadership
